Our boys can be so sweet - when they're tired anyways. Every night Alex asks Drew to read him a story, and Drew reads anything he wants without ever complaining. Occasionally they fall asleep like this...
I didn't think about grabbing my camera and so I snapped this with my phone. It was dark and therefore not a great picture, but they were so cute all cuddled up together I had to share this. Some of you know my crazy, high energy, more often than not terrible mannered boys. They can be good and sweet. Notice my shadow in the background~the crazy momma taking pictures of her kids while sleeping. Oh, if only they could be like this all the time!

The weather the past week has been ridiculously cold, and as many of you probably know, I do not do well in cold weather. I wish I could stay indoors all winter(or move someplace warm), but unfortunately that isn't possible. I think even Andy is disliking the cold weather this year. He told me tonight that once the kids are off to college we're going to vacation someplace warm in January. That's only what, like 15 years away?
I am really looking forward to spring, warmer weather and starting a new garden, but I have awhile before I have to start planning. I don't know if I'll start vegetable plants/herbs from seed this year as I have in the past or just buy them. Either way I love growing things. I finally bought myself an amaryllis this year. I've always wanted one, and it bloomed within a week.

Faye saved up her birthday, Christmas, and tooth fairy money and bought her very own American Girl doll. We took the train to Millennium Station on Saturday, and since it was so nice, we walked the rest of the way to Water Tower Place. We spent a lot of time looking at all the dolls, clothes and accessories, before Faye decided she wanted Saige. Saige is the new girl of the year...
She has curly auburn hair, freckles, and earrings!
Of course she needed some pj's, so we got her this pretty white nightgown with blue slippers...
I looked through my sewing books and found a dress pattern for an 18" doll, from Oliver & S little things to sew. It is the tea party doll dress. Faye looked through my fabric scraps and picked out this blue corduroy and green madras, and I quickly sewed up my very first doll dress.
It was very simple and quick - I think Saige will have many clothes very soon. Faye is asking me to make a coat. I will have to think about that one. Coats can be tricky to sew!

Happy New Year!
Velvet got her own cookie too, to celebrate making it to 2013! She is 12 1/2 years old now. She has been with me and Andy for almost as long as we've been together. Its always been the 3 of us, so we are dreading the time when she is no longer with us.
Drew took a few pictures of me and Andy. We hardly ever get our picture taken together.
Its probably for the best...
2012 was not our best year, so we are looking forward to 2013.
Wishing everyone a wonderful new year!
